Mickey Monday – Monsters University Birthday Party!

I say Monsters, you say Party! Our family can't get enough Disney, and birthday parties are a fun way to bring some of the Disney magic to life for our kids. I should start off saying this wasn't your typical 1st birthday party of grown-ups ooo-ing and aww-ing over the birthday toddler. We did have a gaggle of children and adults to entertain. Most of the kids in attendance were over the age of 4  so we decided to make it fun for all with a little Monsters University Orientation  including … [Read more...]

DIY- Love Inspired Decor

Blank space is more than a Taylor Swift song... it is something that inspires me to decorate!   For those of you who don't know me very well yet, my DIY decorating usually also includes leveraging an upcycle idea or two. After staring at the blank wall for a few weeks now, I looked up and had enough. It was time to make use of a few picture frames I bought on clearance last fall and make my own artwork. Supplies I collected at home: Empty Picture Frames Wrapping … [Read more...]

Craft Closet: Ideas are Springing!

My favorite thing about Winter is when it's OVER!! Don't get me wrong, there is so much about the season that I enjoy - but the moment I can shed all the layers and come out of hibernation, I'm bustin' out of that hole! Not to make too much of it, but it's kind of where I'm at with this Cloffice project. I know a beautiful space is hiding under all the layers of stuff, I just need the mess to melt away. When I sent Teri (from Closet Works ) a link to my new Cloffice posts, she sent me the very … [Read more...]

Craft Closet: A journey of a thousand miles begins with Step One!

So, a few days after posting last week's introduction of my Cloffice, I had a bit of a freak out. I said to myself "now I actually have to get my act together!"  And my husband told me "Bold move." But honestly it was the kick in the pants to get going and set up something that truly brings joy and happiness to my life. I had all these grand plans to really dig in there and get all the stuff out of the closet and organize to my heart's content. Instead, I had to dig out my garage after we … [Read more...]

That’s MY ride!-Disney Stroller ID cards

It's Mickey Monday people! So, maybe you aren't bringing 22 people, and four strollers to Disney World, maybe you're just bringing one... either way, you're going to want to have some way to set your stroller apart from the bazillion other strollers at The Happiest Place on Earth. Here's a little inspiration for you. I made these by grabbing some images off the ol' internet, tracing them in my Silhouette software, and then layering cardstock. I made them sturdy by giving them a few passes … [Read more...]

Sunday Funday – Superbowl Snacks!

It’s Superbowl weekend and I am sure folks are going crazy in Seattle and Boston - right FinPop? Here in Chicago, the game is not anywhere near as exciting without our beloved Bears. However, Chicagoans never miss an excuse for a party, or an excuse for some great party food. Those that know me, know that there is always a reason to get excited about the food that comes along with watching those can’t miss commercials. Our annual Superbowl party hosts have put our party on hold until 2016 (Da … [Read more...]

Craft Closet: Turning the Reality into the Dream

So I have this guilty pleasure (one of many, in fact). I LOVE to leaf through design magazines, HOUZZ and Pinterest and dream of the day I have that blissful space that is just mine all mine. In fact, I set out to do that very thing when we remodeled our basement in our cozy but SMALL 100 year old city house - which brings you to my Craft/Office/Closet - the Cloffice! We had a 5 x 7 ft walk in "room" or closet built into the plan and I had the amazing Teri from Closet Works  come in and … [Read more...]

My Least Favorite Day of School….

Aside from the LAST day of school (honesty IS the best policy), my least favorite day of school is the dreaded 100th DAY of SCHOOL celebration. Having five kids means I've been through about a gajillion classroom celebrations, and I flinch when I even hear the number 100. I finally got smart and solved the problem of "MOM! I need 100 of _____ today for school" at 8:03 in the morning.  I created a rainbow shirt of 100 buttons to pull out in such crisis situations. Supplies: White … [Read more...]
